Why a 47-year-old Miami Dolphins coach wore pads, helmet in practice (Shutdown Corner)

Shawn Jefferson, the Dolphins’ wide receivers coach, played 13 years in the NFL with the San Diego Chargers, New England Patriots, Atlanta Falcons and Detroit Lions and has spent the past few years coaching receivers in the league. According to the Palm Beach Post, Jefferson was trying to teach a blocking technique called “push cracking” — so he grabbed a helmet and pads and went to work alongside the players he’s trying to coach up.
