Detroit Lions following Atlanta blueprint with speed at linebacker

Davis and Reeves-Maybin should add speed and athleticism to an otherwise underwhelming unit this fall The Atlanta Falcons didn't have a great defense last year, or sometimes even a very good one. But one thing the Falcons did defensively en route to winning the NFC championship was overhaul their linebacking corps to get faster in the middle of the field. They drafted Deion Jones, who ran the fourth fastest 40-yard dash among linebackers at the 2016 combine, in the second round, and followed up with De'Veondre Campbell, the third fastest linebacker, two rounds later. Both Jones and Campbell started in the Falcons' Super Bowl loss to the New England Patriots, where they combined for 13 tackles
