Vikings aim to get even for last year’s losses to Lions

Matthew Stafford and the Detroit Lions finally had a comeback fall short, by just a few seconds and even fewer inches last weekend against Atlanta. The Lions have had no time to lament, of course, with a difficult game looming at division rival Minnesota. If there were sympathies actually being expressed around this unforgiving league, well, the Vikings would be the last team in line after the way they were swept by the Lions in 2016.

Vikings QB Bradford to miss Lions clash

Sam Bradford's stint on the sidelines will be extended for at least another week as the Minnesota Vikings prepare to face the Detroit Lions. The Vikings quarterback sat out practice on Thursday and is expected to miss Sunday's NFL game as he continues to rehab his injured left knee, head coach Mike Zimmer announced. Bradford, who also sat out Wednesday's workout, experienced swelling and discomfort in his surgically repaired left knee after Minnesota's season-opening win over the New Orleans Saints in week one and underwent an MRI the following day.

Lions forcing turnovers, but struggled to stop Falcons

Long before their chances were finally extinguished by a replay review in the final seconds, the Detroit Lions trailed Atlanta by double digits and were in danger of falling behind by more. Then Detroit safety Glover Quin intercepted a pass and ran it back for a touchdown. It was that kind of day for the Lions, who took the defending NFC champions down to the wire last weekend, but struggled to stop the Falcons for most of the game.

Vikings’ Everson Griffen calls Lions left tackle Greg Robinson ‘lazy’

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. — Vikings defensive end Everson Griffen offered up his honest opinion on Detroit Lions left tackle Greg Robinson on Wednesday, and he didn't back down. "To be quite honest, (he's) kind of lazy," Griffen said. "He's lazy. He gets beat on the inside. I think the biggest thing is he just has to compete more. But yeah, he's pretty lazy. I think the rest of the offensive line, they do pretty well, but to me he's kind of lazy." Griffen said his comments regarding Robinson weren't personal, and again referred to the word "lazy" to describe how he felt the left tackle played. Since being selected No. 2 overall in the 2014 NFL Draft, Robinson has struggled consistently. Robinson,
