Lions, Bucs aim to salvage largely disappointing seasons

The Detroit Lions and Tampa Bay Buccaneers aren't wasting time wondering what might have been had they played better at times this season. The teams meet Sunday, with the Lions (6-6) focused on trying to break a two-game losing streak that has dampened their playoff hopes, and the Bucs (4-8) also desperately needing a win to begin feeling better about themselves. ''You guys are talking as if it's all is lost and that kind of thing,'' Lions coach Jim Caldwell told the media early in the week.

Browns trying to snap winless streak vs. Packers

Pressure comes in different forms on Sundays in the NFL, a fact that will be on full display at FirstEnergy Stadium in Cleveland when the Browns host the Green Bay Packers. The Browns (0-12) are trying to avoid being the only team other than the 2008 Detroit Lions to lose every game in a 16-game season. The Packers (6-6) are still in the hunt for a wild-card spot in the NFC, but they can't afford to lose, especially to a winless team.

Why has Adam Shaheen’s role in the Bears’ offense shrunk in the last two weeks?

Two weeks ago, in reference to Adam Shaheen, offensive coordinator Dowell Loggains said the Bears "want to play him, continue to grow him." That was coming on the heels of Shaheen's two most productive games as a pro: A combined six catches (on six targets) for 80 yards with a touchdown. Perhaps more notably, Shaheen played 65 percent of the Bears' snaps against the Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions. In the last two weeks, Shaheen played 31 percent of the Bears' offensive snaps.

Lions clinging to playoff hopes vs. Buccaneers

The Detroit Lions no longer have wiggle room in the NFC playoff race. Beginning with Sunday's game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Raymond James Stadium, the Lions are living a must-win existence. At 6-6 and two games out of the NFC wild-card position, the Lions know they must end a two-game losing streak that jeopardized their previously realistic postseason hopes.
